Woodpecker uses the combination of Flash and AS3 that animates object by the beats of the sound. It works first by importing a sound file (MP3, WAV, etc…) and then an object is placed to be animated.  I had seen many sound animations such as the wave form from Windows Media Player. I wanted to do something unique. I wanted to do the complete opposite of a common sound animation (Straight lines animating up and down according to the sound). Therefore, I changed the lines into many blotches of particles and I made them animated horizontal. The end result was pretty impressive and I had a great and fun experience testing out this project.

Since obtaining sound and music is really simple and easy “legally” in this generation. Almost any hand-held devices offer a music player application. From cellphones, laptops, car stereos, etc. I think if users are able to interact with the music and sound. That would be definitely give the users a better experience.

Robin uses the combination of PHP and Flash that allow users to interactive with other users in the same application. I can see this technology to be popular in games. Games with multi-user or multi-player option always seemed to stand out more than single-player games. Another good example is Social Networking Site. They are one of the most used and visited website today due to the usefulness. Therefore, I really see a bright future for Robin in the future.

From my experience, it was one of most complicated but most fascinating technology that I experienced. It was frustrating at first getting it to work, but after getting the hang of it, it really did enjoyed the experience. I can brainstorm a ton of new ideas for Robin. Since the world is all about communication, there is not doubt Multi-User will be useful in the future.

Over the past 4 months, my club members and I had been exploring and experimenting a virtual reality game called “Second life”. Second life is basically giving the username a “second life”, where user can create how he/she look like, purchase in-game product such as clothings, buildings, and etc…  I myself is a fan of online games. I was shocked when I saw the game population. I was around 5 millions and it is still expanding. Some pros I find benefiting this game, is finding users that you located locally. Second life allows users to view other user’s profile, their age, interest, and location. I also like building and modeling in-game objects by using theirown unique scripting. This really bring the creatvity up a level.
But one major con that I found is overusage. It is great users are contributing to the game, but some user are willingly to spend massive amount of time improve their in-game profile. Improvement includes better apparence, clothings, and etc… But most improvement will require a fee, not in-game fee, but real money. Some even are said to be really pricey and surprisingly people think is worth purchasing it.
In conclusion, I think Second Life is great game for meeting new friends, but users should balance out their game time and their “First Life” time.

The technique used to invent these motion-based works is primary by Action Script, a powerful script that can control and create Flash’s abilities. At my first glance, just by looking at the amount of codes, I felt I would never understand this. However, when the code was carefully explained with high details, I started to understand more and the codes became much clearer to my head.  I was really fascinated of how much customization Flash is capable of. From how smooth I want the target cursor to be like; to what kind of shape I want my target cursor to be like. I learned a lot from this project, from how this technology works to actually building one. This is definitely be useful in the future, where motion-sensor will be use more frequently
